Starting cat content creation has been fun, but also a little overwhelming at times. I am still new to it, still learning, and definitely still figuring things out as I go. But even early on, I noticed that a few simple things made a big difference.
You cannot always plan everything, and your cat is not always going to cooperate on schedule. Some of the best content comes from little moments you did not plan at all. It has helped me to stop expecting every idea to go exactly as planned and instead learn to work with the moment I am given.
Simple content planning tips that have helped me
A few things that have made it easier for me:
Keep one place for ideas
Instead of trying to remember everything, I print out the weekly pet content planner pages from my free packet and use them to write down ideas as they come to me.
Save caption ideas ahead of time
This is one of the biggest reasons I made the caption bank in my free packet. Sometimes I have a photo or video I like, but I do not know what to write. Having simple caption ideas ready makes posting much easier. A lot of them can also work as short text over reels. Maybe you will find something for yourself too.
Do not over-plan every post
I still like structure, but I have noticed that trying to control everything too much can take the fun out of it. Some of my favorite content is content that happened naturally.
What tools have helped me most so far
I am still figuring out what I really need long term, but these are the tools that have helped me the most at this stage.
Good natural light
This has probably helped more than anything else. A nice window and soft daylight can make a huge difference in cat photos and videos. But for something more planned, or when the light in the house is not great, I use an LED lighting kit, and it has been really helpful.
A phone tripod or stand
This makes filming easier, especially when I want to keep my hands free or catch a moment without shaky video. I have a few: Yeaki Vlogging Kit, Acer Autotracking Tripod, and SENSYNE Tripod and Selfie Stick
Storage for Photos and Videos
I also think an external hard drive is really helpful for storing photos and videos, especially once you start building up a lot of content and do not want everything sitting on your phone.
Simple props that already fit our home
Things like a cat bed, a little cat house, blankets, window spots, or toys help make content feel cozy without needing to buy a lot.
Treats and toys
These can help get attention when needed, especially for photos or short clips.
Editing and planning apps
I am still learning what works best for me, but a few types of apps have already been helpful:
a notes app for ideas. If I don't have my weekly planner by my side, I use Easy Notes app
a calendar app for planning ahead. I use Cozi Family Organizer for events such as pet store visits, vet appointments, etc.
a basic editing app for reels and short videos. I use Edits for reel making, Business Suite to schedule my stories, and I have Manychat in case I need to automate responses or Auto-DM links.
I also use AI tools, currently ChatGPT , as part of my workflow, but I have been alternating between different ones to test what feels most helpful for different parts of content creation.

A note on creator burnout and keeping content fun
Even though I am new to content creation, I can already see how easy it would be to put too much pressure on it. What has helped me is remembering that not every moment needs to become content and not every piece of content needs to be posted. It is okay to keep some moments just for yourself
